OneNet Participates in the Int. Conference on Smart Energy Systems and Technologies

As part of the 5th International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and Technologies (SEST 2022), the H2020 OneNet project hosted a special session entitled “Challenges and Solutions for A Pan-European Electricity Market Integration to Accommodate Grid Services and Needs of the Future.”

Chaired by Anibal Sanjab (VITO), the event took place on 5 September 2022 in Eindhoven, Netherlands and was organised by VITO, RWTH Aachen University and Comillas Pontifical University.

During the event, Matteo Troncia (Comillas Pontifical University), Ivelina Stoyanova (RWTH Aachen University), Anibal Sanjab (VITO) and Luciana Marques (VITO) highlighted solutions that the OneNet project introduced along several dimensions.

The highlighted solutions include 1) a common framework and unified vision for a pan-European electricity market design, 2) requirements for a stable, secure, and interoperable European system, advancing the system of systems approach, 3) TSOs-DSOs cooperation and coordination for an efficient and grid-impact aware procurement of system services and 4) flexibility market integration, market distortions, and proposed solutions.

About SEST 2022 and OneNet

The fifth edition of the International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and Technologies took place from 5 to 7 September 2022. It brought together academic researchers, industry practitioners and regulators to exchange knowledge and best practices related to the design and implementation of smart energy systems and technologies.

OneNet is the largest Horizon 2020 research project in the field of TSO-DSO-Consumer market integration. It involves 72 partners from 23 countries. The key elements of the project are 1) a common market design for Europe, including harmonised products, services and market models, 2) a definition of a common IT architecture, and 3) verification of the unique integrated solutions in large multi-country field tests.
